Newly created listserv for Asian folklorists

This listserv is a forum born out of the need for scholarly communication among those who are working on Asian and Asian American folklore from various disciplines. The current AAS (Association for Asian Studies), AAA (American Anthropological Association), and AFS (American Folklore Society) have no specific interest group or section devoted to the subject of Asian and/or Asian American folklore.

This forum is also intended to bridge the communication between the scholars on both sides of the Pacific, and if possible, across the globe.

for general information about the mailing list and the way to subscribe it, please go to:

Hope all of my fellow Chinese folklorists can actively participate this.

RE:Newly created listserv for Asian folklorists

There is mutual need, I believe, from both sides.  For those of us who have been abroad for many years, we hope to know more about what is taking place in China.  For the fellow folklorists who may be interested in the transformation of Chinese folklore overseas, you may want to know how it is happening.
The listserv and the coming Section of Eastern Asian Folklore under the AFS have a goal to bridge us for mutual benefit.
Of course, feel free to talk about metafolklore.  -- Juwen

RE:Newly created listserv for Asian folklorists

The AFS Eastern Asia Folklore Section is now officially operating. Some information will soon be available at http://www.afsnet.org, the official AFS website.

If you have interests in knowing more about the scholoarship on the subject, joint the listserv, http://lists.willamette.edu/mailman/listinfo/asian-as-am-folklore

We hope a healthy communication can be built.

RE:Newly created listserv for Asian folklorists

P.S.:

Here is the official website:
http://www.afsnet.org/sections/easternasia/

Again, please provide your name and affiliation when joining the Section/listserv.  Otherwise you may not get the access.

At the AFS 2005, the Section sponsored three panels ranging from Asian to Asian American folklore.  It is certainly the goal of the section to bridge scholars with similar interests.
