论文征集:民俗与生态学 (印度民俗生活 Indian Folklife 2008 年特刊)

CFP Volume on Folklore and Ecology
*********************************************
From: "arupjyoti saikia" <arupjyotisaikia@gmail.com>

Hello,

I would be guest-editing a volume of *Indian Folklife* for 2008.
*Indian
Folklife* is a quarterly newsletter published from *National Folklore
Support Centre*, India and circulated worldwide as private and free
circulation. It publishes original and unpublished research papers,
book
reviews, resource reviews and announcements in the discipline of
folklore.
Each issue of the newsletter will be a special issue addressing various
themes closely linked to the dilemmas and anxieties of folklife.
Readers may
kindly read the previous volumes in
http://www.indianfolklore.org/publications_news.htm.

The theme of this volume would be *Folklore and Ecology*.  There
is no doubt that in the context of our relocation of attitude towards
ecology folklore plays and would play an important role. Folklore in
the
form of tales, sayings, songs, ballads, dances and other music and
poetry
can be highly illuminative of man and nature relationship. Often it has
been
asserted that many of our fundamental scientific ideas and policies
about
nature draw from myths and modern folklore. We manage our natural
resources on the assumption that a balance of nature that never existed
and
is frequently invalidated by scientific observations, but oddly still
shapes
much of the foundation of the science of ecology. The accumulated
traditions, in the form of folklore could throw significant light
towards
re-understanding of ecology particularly in the age of technology. This
has
become a more relevant matter in South and South-East Asia.

The proposed volume would try to bring forward these issues in a
meaningful way. Interested authors can write to me
<arupjyotisaikia@gmail.com> informing me briefly about the proposed
title,
its focus and a short biography. These write ups should be short one
which
may vary between 1000 to 2000 words. The last date of any submission
would
be 15th December 2007. As I could accommodate a maximum of 12/15 such
write-ups, I would communicate with the final authors once I can
visualise
the whole author lists and importance of their theme.  The contributors
may
retain copyright with them and freely publish the papers elsewhere.

I hope the prospective authors would appreciate the efforts to
make *Indian Folklife* an effective forum for the field of folklore and
allied disciplines.

With warm regards and the best wishes,
